Meeting Topic: The State of Social Media

Hosted by: Amanda Colocho and Casey Prentice, The Hodges Partnership

Social media platforms are constantly evolving, which means so are social media strategies, keeping social media marketers on their toes. And to top that off, 2020 has thrown a pandemic and a social justice movement during an election year our way.

Since the beginning of March, social media marketers have had to learn to quickly pivot content, strategies and efforts and we’re continuing to see changes in user behaviors and their expectations from brands, stricter advertising policies from Facebook and trends emerging as we navigate through COVID-19, the election and the Black Lives Matter movement.

This SIG will be a discussion-based event. Be prepared to answer these questions and talk about how the events of 2020 have impacted your social media efforts and strategies.

How did COVID-19 impact your social media strategy in 2020? Which platforms are you utilizing more, less?

What are some changes you’ve seen from brands on social media or you’ve implemented over the last few months in response to BLM?

Bring 1-2 examples of brands or companies you think are doing a good job with DEI. What are they doing?

How has, if at all, the 2020 election impacted your organic and paid strategies?

Key Takeaways:
